Welcome back to Between the Lines, where we watched so much basketball last weekend I’m seeing buzzer beaters in my sleep. It’s like Beverlee Roper on a much larger scale. Kentucky Avenue in Platte City is coming in a little over the projected budget. Okay, it’s more than a little, but still. I don’t hit that area as a lunch spot very often these days since I’ve been weaning myself from fast food. But on Tuesday at the lunch rush I was having a craving for a Mc. Rib so I headed that direction. And not just because the Mc. Donald’s drive- thourgh dude said Mc. Ribs are off the menu again (what’s up with that, Mickey D’s?). No, it was the traffic that reminded me of another good reason to avoid fast food. Prairie View was ridiculous. I doubt QT and its gas pump customers appreciate this added parking lot traffic so I won’t mention the motorist by name. But his initials are Ivan Foley. You’ll find them on page A- 5. As you know by now, statewide the majority of Missouri voters went for Trump and Hillary Clinton by very narrow margins. I don’t have room to list them all but here are some of the precincts and which way voters leaned: Platte City: GOP- -Cruz 4. Trump 4. 1%. Democrat: Sanders 5. Clinton 4. 8%. There were 5. Republican ballots cast; 3. Democrat ballots cast. GOP ballots cast: 5. Democrats: Sanders 5. Clinton 4. 5%. 3. Democrat ballots cast. Democrats: Sanders 5. Clinton 4. 5%, 3. Democrats voted. Dems: Clinton 5. Sanders 4. 8%, with 5. Trump had four more votes. There were 7. 82 Republican ballots cast. Democrats: Sanders 5. Clinton 4. 9%, with 6. Democrats voting. Democrats: Sanders 5. Clinton 4. 4%, with 4. Democrats voting. Democrats: Sanders 5. Clinton 4. 2%, with 5. Democrats- -Clinton 5. Sanders 4. 4%, with 1. Dem voters. It’s not the disaster it was last year but it’s still far from pretty. Elite Eight: Kansas, Miami, Oregon, Texas A& M, Kentucky, Xavier, Virginia, Michigan State. Follow Foley on Twitter @ivanfoley).
